This trail leads to the 9,453-foot summit of Mt. The summit trail is steep and fairly exposed, but the switchbacks offer plenty of opportunities to catch your breath. It may be overgrown closer to the top at certain times of the year, but even then it is a more enjoyable way to go up or down to the summit. It was a beautiful hike down, though, and I'll definitely come back again in a few months when it gets colder. The summit offers outstanding views of southern Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. I'm not sure if this is a seasonal occurrence as it was my first summit, but if you go up there, be prepared for LOTS of bugs.
